Milton Marks Neuro-Oncology Family Camp represents an unprecedented effort to address the needs of brain tumor patients and their families that reach beyond medical therapy. Spanning 3 days, MMFC creates a community where these families feel supported, cared for, and understood. The burden of care and isolation that often comes with this illness is temporarily lifted so that families can deepen their connections with their spouses and children, make new friends, and come to better understand what that are facing.
As Camp's Assistant Director, I've seen that this community a blessing for those it serves, but it's also a blessing for those who participate in building it. I am trying to raise $1209.00 for my birthday this year, which is on 12/09/19. A gift in any amount makes a huge difference for families coping with a parent's brain tumor. Milton Marks Neuro-Oncology Family Camp is the only annual family camp in the nation that offers respite and joyous, intimate experiences for families where one parent has brain cancer. Families experience Milton Marks Family Camp as a year-round community. In a survey 10 months after camp, our families affirmed that the MMFC community played a central role in their lives, and helped them cope "a great deal" with the stress of the illness. As one of our brain tumor patients told us:
