One of the most meaningful experiences I had this year was serving as a medical staff volunteer for the Milton Marks Neuro-Oncology Family Camp. The purpose of the medical staff was to provide support for the health and safety of the men and women (moms and dads) with brain tumors, so that they could connect with each other and camp friends. It was four days jam-packed with heartfelt activities. There was fun at every turn: art, massage, night hikes, creeks, ponds, wildlife, instruments, music, camp songs, yoga, s'mores, sports, games, support groups. That's not even close to everything that was going on at MMFC. My heart was touched deeply by many of the families and volunteers. I am forever grateful to the families who allowed me into their private spaces. Please consider a donation in lieu of any holiday or birthday gifts for me this year. XO

Our camp’s mission is to provide families with a weekend of respite and community and an experience of year-round support to combat the isolation that comes from a parent’s brain tumor.

Families experience Milton Marks Family Camp as a year-round community. In a survey 10 months after camp, our families affirmed that the MMFC community played a central role in their lives, and helped them cope "a great deal" with the stress of the illness. As one of our brain tumor patients told us:
